- The Organic Poet
Arizona @DaniLymanMoment
There's a whisper in the wind
It's soft breath against my neck
Palm leaves shuffle
Underneath its force
They rustle
Showering me with affection
The trees have always been here
Roots planted
Millenniums before I was born
Yet, they bow their branches to me
As if I am worth honoring
The sandy mountains
The waddling roadrunners
The wild javelina
And the stealthy coyote
Gather on the horizon
Where the desert meets the sky
They wait in silent anticipation
As the Prodigal Son arrives
I trade my shoes for pebbled dirt
My calloused feet
Wandering
On paths and roads
Not meant for me
Find comfort in the soiled earth
I welcome the release
I sit among the saquaro
And the desert trees
The wildflowers
Just now blossoming
They recognize my soul
And I recognize their cries
They too know
How it hurts to be alive
The burning sun
She knows my name
The watching moon
He knows my face
The speckled stars
Dance in place
All of heaven celebrates
I was ready for a reckoning
I am met with forgiveness
In windy winters and blazing summers
The desert life embraces me
Accidentally and on purpose
It heals the wounds that fated me
With its ever present echoing
“You are not alone"
It is the gentle hand of God
Welcoming me home
