If they put you down in textbooks

what story would they share?

Perhaps your stunning good looks

or how you hid behind your hair?

If they typed you in their eulogies

would there be nary a dry eye?

Or a room full of do-their-duties,

and watch checking, and sighs?

If their faces filled each golden frame

what fate would echo off the walls?

Will your love light their DNA

or haunt their eyes in gilded halls?

Poet's biography

Name: Sabina Colleran

Place of residence: Westchester County, NY, USA

Your favourite quote:

"Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let the pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride knowing that though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place." -Iain S. Thomas

Your one wish for the world:

That we remember that love - real love for humanity as a whole- is a radical, rebellious act we should all be brave enough to do.

A small bio about you:

I graduated from Fordham University in 2013, with a BS in Psychology and a minor in Business. I spent 7 years working at a small company right after college, but I am currently a stay-at-home mom to my silly, beautiful, almost 2-year-old. I've been writing poetry since college, when one day I suddenly had words coming into my head faster than I could write them down. My best works are still poems that come to me naturally, without a lot of work and editing. I hate when poetry is so dense and esoteric that you feel dumb when you can't understand it. I like poems that are easy to grasp and that "click" in your mind in delightful ways. My inspirations are Lang Leav, Emily Dickinson, and Dorothy Parker, to name a few. Besides working towards publishing my poetry and raising my son, I am a huge bookworm, a loving wife, a devout Catholic, and relentlessly joyous about life when my OCD allows. AMDG!
