New Shorelines @alba_poetry

I lifted the anchor

put up my sails,

and left behind the harbor of the twinkling city.

Hands shaking,

dreams fuelling the night.

The waves crash against my sailboat

the night darkens,

the safety of the shoreline slowly disappearing from my view.

Yet the wind pushes me forward and away.

Courage, desire,

the hope of finding new shorelines

slowly envelops me once more.

I adjust the sails,

breath in the salty, wild wind

and look up.

A canopy of galaxies,

the light of the North Star

watching over me

guiding me-

safely

to the waiting embrace

of new shorelines.

Favorite Quote: "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life the you have imagined." - Henry David Thoreau

Your one wish for the world: I wish that we would treat each other with more kindness. Embrace and celebrate our flaws. Look at the things that unite us instead of what divides us.
